Reiki is a Japanese word derived from two words, Rei and Ki, and essentially means “universal life force energy”. Every living thing has a life force energy that flows through them. In humans, this life force energy is known by many names, such as Ki or Chi, Prana, Mana, the Breath of Life and others. It is the human energy field. Every culture has a specific name for the vital life force that animates every living thing. 

Reiki is a gentle energy healing technique in which the practitioner places their hands on or over specific areas of your body to deliver universal life force energy. The practitioner becomes a conduit of the energy, enhancing the delivery and flow. It is a simple, yet powerful technique that balances and harmonizes the physical, mental, emotional and energy bodies.

Reiki was developed in the early 1900’s by Makao Usui while he was searching for an alternative way of healing and is now used all over the world and in many hospitals. Reiki complements other forms of treatments and can enhance the efficacy of other types of healing.  If you are in good health, Reiki can enhance your ability to respond to stress.

A typical Reiki session is usually an hour long. However, session length can vary depending on the needs of the client. A session can be as short as 15 minutes or as long as 90 minutes.

Reiki sessions can be done in person or long distance. A gentle energy healing technique in which I place my hands over or on specific areas of the body to deliver universal life force energy.
